ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) - Law enforcement agencies believe a missing teenager from North Carolina may be in Atlanta.

A device associated with Destinie Desire, 17, has been tracked to the area of 14th Street NW and Northside Drive NW in Midtown, according to Atlanta police. Desire is originally from Stanly County, which is just east of Charlotte.

Desire, who has a cognitive impairment, didn’t come home from West Stanly High School on May 1. The Stanly County Sheriff’s Office said she was talking to someone online, and detectives believe she arranged for the person to pick her up.

Police ask anyone with information about Desire’s whereabouts to call 911 or Atlanta police at 404-546-4235. You can also reach out to Stanly County Sheriff’s Office Detective JJ Snider at jsnider@stanlycountynv.gov.
