OWEN Cooper has been nominated for his first award following his breakthrough performance in Netflix’s Adolescence.
The teenager, who lives in Orford, burst onto the scene in his debut performance as Jamie Miller in the streaming series.
Adolescence, which is a four-part drama, follows the story of 13-year-old Jamie who is arrested on suspicion of murder.
Katie Leonard, Jamie’s classmate, was stabbed to death in a car park and the 13-year-old is the prime suspect.
The series was filmed entirely in one shot – meaning that each episode was acted out by the cast from start to finish with no cuts, like a play.

Undeniably the breakout star from the series was Owen, who was just 14 when he took on the role of Jamie.
The role was the now 15-year-old’s acting debut, and fans called for him to be nominated for his remarkable performance.
“Not only is this his first acting gig but every episode of this show is shot in one continuous take,” a viewer posted on social media.
“He is going have an Oscar one day he is f*****g incredible.”
Now, the teenager has been nominated for a Gotham TV Award for his performance in the smash hit series.
The Gotham Awards are an annual awards ceremony in America that has been holding awards ceremonies for films since 1991.
Last year, the inaugural television awards were launched and this year they are set to return.

The episode and the pair’s performances were highly praised by viewers online. They are nominated along side Taraji P. Henson, Diego Luna and Jenny Slate.
Also nominated is Stephen Graham, who played Jamie’s dad Eddie, who has been shortlisted for Outstanding Lead Performance in a Limited Series.
Adolescence is also up for the Breakthrough Limited Series award at the ceremony, which will be held on June 2 in New York City.
