The cream of Dublin’s spoken word poetry scene will bring their craft to Thoor Ballylee, near Gort, on Saturday, May 10, 7.30pm.
Spoken word poets from Dublin’s Poetry Kiln collective, including the renowned Mikey Cullen, will feature on stage at the iconic tower along with local Galway-based poets from the Ploughed Field collective and the Oil Slick.
Poetry Kiln collective is a vibrant group of poets and performers that use wit and wisdom and music to communicate directly with audiences. Mikey Cullen from Beaumont, is a teacher in Gaelcholáiste Reachrann in Donaghmede.
His poem, “Home”, went viral on TikTok last year and he has published in many anthologies such as Dlúthpháirtíocht, Peace, Land and Bread, Outlaw Poetry and Void magazine. He’ll be joined by other poets from the collective including Annie Peter, David Hynes, and Caoimhe Weakliam and Galway-based poets from the Ploughed Field Collective and the Oil Slick, an open-mike group performing in the city.
